ASH Ireland, Council of the Irish Heart Foundation, is a leading anti-tobacco advocacy organisation in Ireland. Initially founded in 1992 by the Irish Heart Foundation and the Irish Cancer Society, it became a Council of the Irish Heart Foundation in 2018. ASH Ireland is a single-issue advocacy group designed to focus entirely on the serious impact of smoking on health, and the various activities and practices of the Tobacco Industry.

ASH Ireland, Council of the Irish Heart Foundation has played a leading role in all of the major Tobacco Control interventions in Ireland, including the smoke free law, that have reduced tobacco use and improved health for the past 20 years.  ASH Ireland will continually work towards creating a tobacco-free society in Ireland so that a greater number of our citizens can be protected from the scourge of nicotine addiction and the illnesses which emerge from tobacco use.

 

ASH Ireland informs, educates and campaigns on tobacco use

ASH Ireland, Council of the Irish Heart Foundation is focused on reducing the impact of tobacco use in Irish society. Approximately 5,900 Irish citizens die each year from the effects of tobacco-related disease. ASH Ireland is determined to reduce this staggering statistic. The organisation uses its independence to focus on “the issue” and ensures it is never compromised.

ASH Ireland, Council of the Irish Heart Foundation will enter into partnership with other organisations when this supports its objectives. It will not hesitate to highlight, criticise and advocate on tobacco issues when warranted. If tobacco products were introduced on the market today they would be banned by every country on the planet. This motivates ASH Ireland and similar organisations to strive towards a tobacco free society.
